I’m the owner of a Apple MacPro 2 x 2,66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon (2006 – MacPro 1,1) and had many problems with Magic Bullet Looks and Final Cut Pro / Studio.

Often after upgrading I’ve got an error message: “Effect failed to render!”. This always meant to me that MBL was no longer usable. Sometimes they fixed it, but the last status was “You own the wrong graphics card” and “Your need more VRAM”.

Finally I’ve found a solution for this mess – a brand new video card:

ATI Radeon HD 4890 1GB Video Card All Mac Pro.

You have to search for these cards on ebay (US). The seller is “paulslatest“.

I’m really happy with it. Everything works as smooth as it should – and I really hope that this card with 1 GB VRAM will be good enough for 2 more years…

UPDATE:

After the installation of Mac OS X 10.6.3 my ATI 4890 wasn’t working anymore… but with the help of the patch/update tool Zeus http://www.groths.org/ my card is back on track!

I really recommend this tool for everyone with a flashed graphics cars!
