Final Cut Pro: 8-bit YUV

Final Cut Pro: 8-bit YUV or high-precision YUV

I’ve asked myself if it’s possible to get better results out off Final Cut Pro for my Internet videos.

Therefore I’ve made two stills after rendering the same Final Cut Pro project in two different ways.

- 8-bit YUV

- high-precision YUV

You will find both settings in your FCP sequence settings.

To compare the results you should open both links in different browser windows.
Now you can easily switch between them and compare the pictures.

In consideration which method suits best for your project, be aware that

- high-precision YUV is much more time consuming

and you will not see too much of these differences after converting and uploading your video.

As you can see here:

You should watch it in different resolutions from 360p to 1080p! Click on play, then you can choose the resolution.

Look for her arm, the arrow and her skin color!

So, I will use 8-bit YUV for all my Internet stuff, as long as there is no better conversion quality available for Internet videos.
